The Salt Works

So as some of you may know, it has been bitterly cold here in North Carolina this past week…I woke up this morning and it was 8 degrees outside! BURR! In result of the cold weather, my skin and lips have been overly dry and gross looking. I have tried so many face masks and moisturizers and absolutely nothing has worked. Here’s where Epsom Salt comes to save the day!!

✹What is Epsom Salt? Epsom Salt is not actually salt but a pure mineral compound of magnesium and sulfate. It has many health benefits as well as beauty, household & gardening.

✹Health Benefits? Epsom salt is known to sooth the body, mind, and soul. It relaxes the nervous system, soothes muscle aches and pains, draws toxins from the body, and it is one of the simplest ways to be stress free and relaxed.

✹Beauty uses? Exfoliate dead skin – mix epsom salt with bath or olive oil and rub all over your wet skin to exfoliate and soften. Exfoliating face cleanser – mix a half teaspoon of Epsom salt with your regular cleanser and gently massage into skin and rinse with cold water. Removal of blackheads – add a teaspoon of Epsom salt and 3 drops of iodine into boiling water. Apply to blackheads with a cotton ball. Hair Volumizer – combine deep conditioner and epsom salt, then warm the mixture in a pan and work the mixture through your hair and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.

My absolute favorite usage of Epsom Salt is for lip treatment. If you are suffering from dry, chapped lips this time of year here is your savior. Make an epsom-salt scrub by combining it with coconut oil and rubbing the mixture into lips. Wipe away with a warm washcloth and follow with some moisturizing lip balm.

✹Household uses? Cleaning the bathroom tiles – mix epsom salt and liquid dish detergent together to use as a scrub on bathroom tile. Clean detergent build-up on washing machines – fill the machine tub with hot water, add epsom salt and run a soak cycle to dissolve build-up.

Hope you guys enjoy & go buy some epsom salt!

XOXO
